Background

Back in October 2021, I was interested in getting a high storage external hard disk drive since I have photos and videos to store for my website and YouTube channel.

I looked around online to search for one that is value for money, and I came across the Western Digital WD_BLACK P10 Game Drive 5TB WDBA3A0050BBK-WESN which is on sale selling at 169 SGD at Harvey Norman. Since there is a Harvey Norman store around my workplace, I decided to go to the physical store to purchase it.

The Stuff

The Western Digital WD_BLACK P10 Game Drive 5TB WDBA3A0050BBK-WESN is a 2.5" portable HDD  and comes in a black rugged design casing. The drive uses a Micro-B interface, and the package comes with a USB Type-A to Micro-B cable.

Here are some pictures that I have taken to show how the stuff looks like:

Usage and Experience

I have been using the Western Digital WD_BLACK P10 Game Drive 5TB WDBA3A0050BBK-WESN to store my photos and videos as another backup, even though I do have cloud storage to do that.

But in the event, if I do not have an internet connection and I need to retrieve something urgently, this would be useful.

Even though this is not an SSD drive but rather a normal spindle-based hard disk drive, I find the read/write speed reasonable since the main purpose is to store data for backup.

One drawback I can think of is that since this is a single 5TB disk drive, it will be quite a heart pain if this becomes faulty and it's the only backup source.
